The 800 and 1900MHz bands are the only bands used in the United States, Canada and Mexico. They are also used in most countries in South America, and in some African countries. They may also be used in some Asian countries, although the 900 and 1800MHz bands are more prevalent there.

Sometimes people will refer to something called the "850MHz Band," usually in conjunction with GSM systems in the United States. The term "850MHz Band" refers to the exact same thing as the "800MHz Band" in this context.
